I may or may not have an addiction to television, and by this I mean to say I am addicted to television. It’s a daily struggle, but with all the time I spend in front of the boob tube, I have come to realize that television is a wonderful avenue for up and coming artists to promote and get their tunes out there, and no matter what people say, there is NO shame in that.
Such artists as Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Matt and Kim, and The Black Keys have all embraced “the commercial” as a vehicle for popularity. Recently, I even heard one of my favorite songs featured on a somewhat kitschy and whimsical Honda Civic video. Oh Land‘s “We Turn It Up” is a fun, lighthearted tune that perfectly compliments the storybook fantasy Honda. It’s hard not to bounce your head along with this lipstick wearing yeti monster and her gal pals.
Oh Land has had amazing success thus far, with singles “Sun of a Gun” and “Wolf & I”, but the visual stimulation of this Honda fantasy paired with this tune brings a fresh, fun perspective to her song.
